SpaceGodzilla is a playable monster in the Atari Godzilla Trilogy, appearing in "Godzilla: Save the Earth" and "Godzilla: Unleashed". He is a key antagonist in the former game, allied with the Vortaak, and the central antagonist of the latter and cause of the appearance of the crystals. No longer in alliance with any alien entity, he serves as a member of the Mutants faction instead.

The character's design is based upon his appearance in the 1994 film Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla.

Biography[]

SpaceGodzilla is a malevolent fusion of Godzilla's DNA and an unknown collection of extra-terrestrial minerals and energies. SpaceGodzilla has an unknown potential for psychic abilities, including telekinesis, telepathy, levitation, mind control, and the manipulation of many basic elements. SpaceGodzilla can temper crystal towers from the earth around him, which he uses to magnify and focus his psychic energies. SpaceGodzilla's greatest weapon is the human-level intelligence that he wields, despite his gargantuan frame. This makes him a tremendous potential threat to all humanity and all of the earth. SpaceGodzilla has attacked Earth only twice before - once as a free agent and once as an ally of the Vortaak. But his thirst for power knows no allegiance, and needs none.

Behind the Scenes[]

SpaceGodzilla was confirmed for inclusion in Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee 2 when the project was announced, but an ingame confirmation waited well into the summer.

It was speculated from early on that he would return for "Godzilla: Unleashed" in some capacity, due to the character's popularity, unique moveset, and the crystal storyline. He was widely expected to appear as a member of the Aliens faction due to being a previous ally of the Vortaak. He appeared in the final teaser shot of the third release trailer, confirming his inclusion, and would ultimately be confirmed formally two months later, on November 14th, 2007, in an IGN Creature Reveal.
